Reiki

Many of you, like ‘Bob The Birder’ (or ‘im upstairs), will consider Reiki to be a bit ‘hocus pocus’ but it really is a strong form of healing. The Therapist develops a non-polar healing energy through the hands – something we are all born with if we care to develop it and uses it in many ways. It can be used with people, to help bring about healing, that is to say, to help bring the body back into balance. It can be used on plants or seeds, to help stimulate growth or combat simple problems. It can be used on animals, whereby an animal will walk away when it has received as much as it requires. And it can be used as a cleansing tool on inanimate objects, such as children’s toys if it is considered an aid to healing. So, WHAT EXACTLY IS IT? It is a very high vibrating energy. It is also considered a masculine form of healing – earth
element- and can benefit physical, mental, and emotional health. It can only be used to bring about good and if it fails to work it is because of a feeling of Ego, Greed, Anger, Power or some other negative element within the Giver. Once abused, it is lost. The Reikiist will place his/her hands over the body chakras in order to stimulate the body – rather like working the gears in a car, and it will take the body up a gear and help to get it back into a working system. This has been proved with Kirlian photography, which shows the shape and colours of the human aura, shows that the negative, darker areas become balanced in shape and brighter in colour, indicating the polarising effect of the Reiki energy. So, Reiki polarises the cells of the body and depending on the depth and severity of the illness and the individual’s readiness to accept the energy, healing will occur at varying degrees on some if not all levels. It is a gentle form of healing and has a cumulative effect, so the more often it is given the more the body will respond. I remember being on a Computer Training Course when the Instructor just went down on his knees in pain. I immediately put my hands, without asking permission which was wrong, on his shoulders, where we have sciatic helpers. Suddenly I became aware of several pairs of eyes asking “What are you doing?” When I said offering Reiki, or healing, I had to give an explanation of what it was. I apologised to my Instructor for giving healing without permission and was asked to continue as it was bring such relief. Some months later he told me he did not know what I did but he had had no further problem with his back, which was a great relief. Others will say that Reiki is a form of unconditional love. It is given without expecting anything in return, but I am aware that whatever I give, is given back to me tenfold. I get a lovely warm glow, and I have always suffered from the cold – what nicer way to warm up! Often a client will fall asleep as they are being worked on. The other time that left me
with a great feeling of satisfaction was when my Mother broke her wrist. I went to the hospital the first day she was in and the plaster was fresh. I placed my hands over the plaster and shortly after she began to complain of the pain so I stopped. But then she asked me to continue as the surgeon was very worried about the fracture and they may have to reset it after several days. I gave her Reiki for the week that I was down in the area and needless to say the surgeon was amazed how quickly she recovered. I believe she was 89 or 90 years old then. She went on to learn Reiki herself and used it when she was diagnosed with cancer, to relieve some of the pain. Like all therapies, some find one is more successful, or enjoyable, than others but many hospitals accept Reikiists on a voluntary basis, so it can’t be all bad!! As with all therapies, Reiki is not diagnostic. The Therapist may find ‘Hot Spots’ but that only means that something is out of balance in that particular area and would benefit from being given healing.
Last month I wrote about extracts from my quarterly magazine and one item I did not comment on was the Newspaper article reporting the Suffolk Care Home where a water club was introduced. They were all encouraged to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water per day, given jugs of water in their rooms and water coolers were installed throughout the home. As a
result, the guests felt more alert, looked younger, needed fewer pills and generally benefited from better health. The staff were all amazed at the improvements and say that the whole home now ‘Buzzes’ – no longer do they just sit and sleep.
So, if you want to look younger and feel more energetic, you know what to do!
